DU-area housing stays hot; 2,084-square-foot home: $360,000

While Colorado's housing market has started to soften, properties near the University of Denver remain hot, says Realtor Christine Barton.

That's the case for a one-and-a-half story brick home in the 2000 block of South Gilpin Street in Denver. The 2,084-square-foot home features vaulted ceilings, a finished basement and a remodeled kitchen and bathrooms.

The home, built in 1927, went under contract two hours after it went on the market this month. Barton expects it to fetch 2 percent below the $360,000 asking price when it closes next month.

Barton is selling the home for Donna Peterson, a Douglas County teacher. The prospective buyer seeks to purchase the home for his son to live in while attending DU, Barton said.
